Plan, organize, coordinate, and participate in design, development, testing, implementation and support of complex software application systems and associated tools to ensure the needs of Sanford and its affiliates are met. Must have expert knowledge of computer principles and techniques necessary to design complex software applications. Experience required with Architecture design\build as well as JSON\Restful API technologies. Java, groovy and python scripting exposure highly desired. Fundamental experience with Unix\Windows applications, operating systems and their tool sets as well as a solid understanding of data networking and terminology. Bonus experience with LIMS systems or working knowledge of molecular genetic labs or other healthcare lab exposure.


This position requires a enterprise wide IT background and ability to work cross functionally with business and technology teams to help flush out requirements and develop solutions to meet the needs of the business. The position highly requires systems and application design, architecture and build experience. 75% design/architecture/build, 25% implementation. Works with the Imagenetics team to establish operational objectives for teams supporting the IT platforms and projects. Work collaboratively with business and technology stakeholders in defining future-state business and technology architectures that take into account business goals and priorities. Designs and develops information and application systems by understanding operations; designing, developing, and installing software solutions; supports and develops Imagenetics team members. Lead Software Engineer will provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues. Designs reliable operation of all interfaces and the interface applications (i.e. Clarity LIMS, Cloverleaf) as well as management systems (Sapio/Exemplar) through design documentation, written policies and procedures. Takes initiative for identifying process improvements and application enhancements. Conduct requirements analysis to generate software design specifications.


Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field. Master’s degree is beneficial but not required. Must have five years’ work experience as a mid to lead systems engineer or related position, with healthcare experience preferred. Must have expert knowledge of computer principles and techniques necessary to design and architect complex application systems.
